Residents of Igbuzo and its surrounding communities have been invited to participate in a free health awareness outreach being organized by the Light Diabetes Organization on August 11, 2026, as part of efforts to promote healthy living and combat the growing prevalence of diabetes and other health-related conditions.

The outreach programme will feature a comprehensive health seminar aimed at educating participants on preventive healthcare practices, healthy lifestyles, and the management of chronic diseases.

Medical experts and healthcare professionals will be on hand to provide valuable information and guidance to attendees.

As part of the initiative, residents will benefit from free diabetes screening, blood pressure checks, and professional medical consultations. Participants will also have the opportunity to receive personalized health advice from qualified healthcare practitioners.

Speaking with Newsbreeze, the Co-founder of the organization ,
Princess (Mrs) Tonia Nkem Akindele(nee Eluemelu), disclosed that the annual outreach is part of the group’s commitment to giving back to society and improving public health awareness.

According to the Co-founder, the organization has consistently organized the free health awareness programme every year to help communities gain access to essential health information and early detection services.

We believe that prevention is better than cure. Through this annual outreach, we aim to educate the public on healthy living while providing free health checks that can help detect medical conditions early, the Co-founder said.

The organization noted that diabetes and hypertension remain major health concerns in many communities, making regular screening and awareness campaigns essential for improving health outcomes.

Residents of Igbuzo and neighboring communities are encouraged to take advantage of the free programme, which is open to people of all ages.

Organizers expressed optimism that the outreach will further strengthen community health awareness and encourage residents to adopt healthier lifestyles for a better quality of life.
