The Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Igbariam, Anambra State. Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha has disclaimed the saying by some ignorant citizens that education is a scam.

Prof Omenugha clarified this during an interview with The Forward News Media team at the University complex after receiving an award of excellence performance in education. She said education can never be a scam because it is what gives you the passport to anything you want in life that bring out your potential
She said it does not matter after graduating from the university and you were unable to secure a job, that doesn’t make it a scam. After graduating from the university and you were unable to be employed, it means such a person is not serious, if you can’t engage yourself from skill you acquired during your university days then you have a problem.
At the university, you will be able to develop a skill, build on it and not only the technical skill, we are talking about the soft skills, innovational stability, leaning that help to deal with failure and success, being intelligent is the real sense of human being, she explains.

The VC further disclosed that education allow you to have all these, adding that after you graduated from university you are expected to develop a particular skill that you can put to good use and make yourself employable and we are creating such opportunity in this university.
” I spoke with the person in charge of careers building centre for the students in Odimegwu Ojukwu University, so that our students can pass through education and learn a skill.”.
She encouraged students not to allow the university to pass through them, they should pass through the university too, particularly now that we’re at the era of Artificial intelligence AI, ICT among others.
” We just opened a radio station now at the University 106.1fm, we need people to be there and this will be an opportunity for students who are serious for themselves that have real romance with broadcasting in radio station”.
She maintained that people get job because they are able, adding also that if you are able to read news, you may be employed and these are things we are looking at in the university.
” On my birthday, I art a play and some students joined me in the play then I asked them if you don’t have the skill of acting will you be able to art play with your VC? and this is how celebrity starts and from this university you will get where you’re ought to be”.
This is education and you are going through it, so how can education be scam, those evil things they do that will lead them to destruction. In this university we are very tolerant with all these and they knew, Prof Omenugha clarified.
The VC noted that the university give the students opportunity to express their youthful age and give them the platform to perform and how to deal with human being.
Education have given me the opportunity to showcase my skill and able to bring in the best and it has given others the opportunity to bring in their best too, she stated.
